“Fantasy Life” – Book Launch Party with Tabitha Soren

In 2002, Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane crafted a new kind of major league baseball draft class. For the next 15 years, Tabitha Soren, who is married to author Michael Lewis, followed the class made famous by “Moneyball,” chronicling with her camera the vagaries of the players’ lives on and off the field. Some of the subjects, like Nick Swisher and Joe Blanton, have gone on to become well-known, respected players at the highest level of the game. Some left baseball to pursue other lines of work, such as selling insurance and coal mining. Others have struggled with poverty and even homelessness.
