Aggie Pavlidis: Dream Lines

We are thrilled to announce that we will be showcasing Aggie Pavlidis's collection "Dream Lines" at The Yard in Williamsburg! To kick off the exhibit, we will be celebrating with an art opening on February 16th at 5:30pm - 7:30pm. Join us in admiring Aggie's work that she personally describes as "unhinged grace" over wine and cheese. Aggie's work focuses on the ways in which we process and internalize our surroundings and experiences. She makes and creates as a means to better understand herself, and the world around her. Aggie received her BFA in Fine Arts from the Art Institute of Boston (now Lesley University's College of Art and Design). She currently lives and works in Boston. Curated by Silence Is Accurate

Mélange of Milieu: Defying Category

This February Agora Gallery presents Mélange of Milieu, a group exhibition highlighting the newest ways to bend genre practiced by artists working today. The eight featured artists hail from the Ukraine, Switzerland, Austria, Japan, and the United States - among others - yet have much to say to each other. The hazy, Impressionistic landscape paintings on one wall seem to both inform and take cues from the brash figural paintings on the next. Mélange of Milieu is unique in the current crop of gallery shows for featuring sculpture as prominently as painting, or indeed any works on paper. 5th Annual Winter Concert-Bellevue/NYU Program for Survivors of Torture

The Bellevue/NYU Program for Survivors of Torture (PSOT) is hosting its fifth annual Winter Concert at Printer’s Alley on February 23rd. Featuring music by Casa Mantequilla as well as PSOT clients and other special guests, it will be an evening highlighting the work of the Program, including the 20th anniversary of its Francophone African supportive therapy group. The Winter Concert is a celebration of the resilience and strength of PSOT’s clients, survivors of torture and human rights abuses who have fled their home countries seeking safety in the United States. PSOT works with New York’s refugees and asylum seekers, some of its most vulnerable populations, and strives now more than ever to show these communities that the United States is safe and welcoming to survivors…
