Star Wars takes over Liberty Science Center February 12-15

Jersey City, New Jersey (February 1, 2016) – In a galaxy far, far away…in Jersey City…Yoda, Stormtroopers, and Jedi unite at Liberty Science Center!

Launching for a special holiday weekend event, February 12 through 15, this galactic gathering, dubbed “Science, Sabers and Star Wars,” invites fans of all ages to harness “the Force” in an array of interactive experiences, hands-on activities, and feel the power of the light and dark side.

Activities include a Lightsaber Construction, science demos on “the Force” using simple machines, a Tesla Coil Show featuring music from the epic space opera, and more. Guests can meet and take pictures with their favorite characters from the film series, including Liberty Science Center’s resident R2-D2, Stormtroopers from 501st Legion, and Mandalorian Mercs.

“Dust off your Darth Vader mask, don your Jedi robe, and roll up your Princess Leia buns,” said LSC President and CEO Paul Hoffman. “Visitors are encouraged to get into the spirit and join us for a long weekend full of interactive science activities inspired by the phenomenon that is Star Wars.”

Visitors who show up in costume will receive $5 off their admission ticket. Guests of all ages are invited to practice their skills at the Jedi Academy by:

• Building straw rockets and launching them at the Death Star
• Designing custom lightsabers at the “Lightsaber Construction Center”
• Feeling “the Force” while using simple machines to accomplish seemingly impossible tasks
• Customizing a droid for a variety of battle needs
