Sid the Science Kid: The Super-Duper Exhibit! Opens February 6

Jersey City, New Jersey (January 8, 2016) – “It’s sure to be a super-duper-ooper-schmooper good time!” at Liberty Science Center when Sid the Science Kid: The Super-Duper Exhibit! opens on February 6. This exciting, new traveling exhibit brings the award-winning PBS KIDS TV series Sid the Science Kid to life inviting kids ages 2-8 to explore Sid’s world and become “science kids” themselves.

Fun, hands-on activities embedded in familiar environments from the show—Sid’s kitchen, bedroom, backyard, classroom, and playground—help kids investigate everyday science questions. Through immersive play combined with scientific tools and thinking, kids learn about simple machines, the laws of motion, magnetism, air power, and the five senses.

In the exhibit, young learners explore STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) through activities like:

• Catapulting Sid’s toys into his toy box using a lever
• Testing inertia using toys on a skateboard
• “Baking” cookies and making patterns
• Learning the properties of matter by determining which gadgets sink or float
• Choosing and weighing healthy foods from the pantry
• Identifying spices and utensils using their senses
• Designing their own “Super-Duper-Ooper-Schmooper Big Idea!”
• Experimenting with friction and testing different surfaces
Sid the Science Kid: The Super-Duper Exhibit! will be at the Liberty Science Center from February 6 through May 15, and is included with general admission tickets ($21.75 for adults, $18.75 for seniors 62+, and $17.75 for children ages 2-12). Museum members and children under 2 are free.
