“I Have A Dream” Foundation Announces Partnership with The 1:1 Fund for Back to School Fundraiser
April 25, 2015
In partnership with The 1:1 Fund, the “I Have A Dream” Foundation has launched a new pilot program utilizing College Savings Accounts (CSAs) to encourage its “Dreamers” towards postsecondary education. By rewarding students for attaining hallmarks of college preparation, the CSA program aims to increase the likelihood that the students will accomplish these milestones.
Just $100 will enable “I Have a Dream” to open a CSA and put a Dreamer on the path to and through college. Every dollar raised will directly support a student’s CSA. Donate online at www.1to1fund.org/ihdf or mail a donation to “IHDF CSA” 330 7th Avenue, 20th Floor, New York, New York 10001.
The “I Have A Dream” Foundation has already opened CSAs for 9th grade students at one New York high school in the spring of 2013. These students could earn up to $200 if they met four critical milestones on the path ‘to and through’ college: completion of a CSA Training Program, a first college visit, a first resume and two practice college admissions assessments (i.e. practice SAT or ACT). Most recently, the Foundation opened CSAs with their affiliates in New York City, and Portland, Oregon. They are in the planning stages of opening accounts in Des Moines, Iowa. All sites are committed to working with the program and have begun fundraising to support their participation in the CSA initiative.
