Green-Wood Historic Fund Hosts Eighth Annual Fundraising Gala
September 16, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm$250
Award-winning actor John Turturro and critically acclaimed author and Green-Wood Board Member Malcolm MacKay will receive The DeWitt Clinton Award for Excellence — the Green-Wood Historic Fund’s highest honor — at the eighth annual fundraising gala taking place on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Green-Wood Cemetery, a National Historic Landmark located in Brooklyn.
The evening will feature cocktails alfresco followed by a seated dinner in one of the city’s most historic natural landscapes. The event will offer an auction of unique items and experiences, each with a special tie to Green-Wood and its history. All proceeds will support the Green-Wood Historic Fund and its many programs including restoration of the Landmarked Weir Greenhouse, trolley and walking tours, educational programs, concerts and outdoor theater.
An Emmy and Obie Award-winning actor, director, and writer, Turturro is also a Brooklynite and strong supporter of Green-Wood. A frequent visitor, he served as the gracious and eloquent narrator and star of a video, released last year, about Green-Wood’s fascinating history. Mackay, a life-long Brooklynite who can trace his local roots back 13 generations, brings to Green-Wood’s Board wisdom, insight and knowledge in nonprofit and cultural institution management. His generosity extends far beyond Green-Wood and has touched organizations like Pratt Institute, Brooklyn Community Foundation, and Sheltering Arms and Safe Space. A critically acclaimed author, MacKay demonstrates an unwavering commitment to preserving the cultural fabric of Brooklyn and New York City.
Attire is business casual and guests should enter at Green-Wood’s main gate at 25th Street and 5th Avenue in Brooklyn. For information about the event, visit www.green-wood.com/benefit.
