2016 Christodora “Campfire”

November 1, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 11:00 pm

Christodora is a 119-year-old nonprofit organization that helps underserved New York City youth develop leadership and academic success through environmental awareness and immersion in the natural world. Founded in 1897 as a settlement house, Christodora now engages more than 2,500 students each year in their public school classrooms, in weekend urban ecology programs, at our wilderness camp in the Berkshires, and with distinguished partner programs including the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and the New York Botanical Garden.

We are pleased to invite you to the signature event of our 119-year-old organization that has sparked a love of nature and learning in hundreds of young New Yorkers from lower-income families. You can enjoy meeting our student environmentalists at our upcoming “Christodora Campfire” Autumn Gala Dinner and Auction. Our benefit gala takes place on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the historic University Club located at One West 54th Street at Fifth Avenue.

As in previous years, 300 of Christodora’s diverse and well-established supporters will be in attendance to enact positive change in the city. Our Christodora friends include philanthropists, corporate and financial executives, educators, and young professionals. All proceeds will support Christodora’s work to help low-income youth develop “21st Century” life and leadership skills, ignite sparks of interest in science, and nurture growth as environmental stewards and active members of their communities.
